Tagged to Share 8 Things

by Marcus on July 31, 2007

Spaghettipie, my Authentic Parenting blog tour pal, tagged me to share 8 things about myself that you might not know. I already shared five things, so here are three more.

6) I’m a sucker for martial arts movies. My favorites are probably The Legend of Drunken Master, Hero, and Kung Fu Hustle.7) I was Lutheran for a year (while in Germany I was an exchange student living in Rothenburg). This was my church.

8) I’m also a sucker for ambiant music, especially Harold Budd. His music is great for writing and editing. Here’s a bonus factoid:

I once graded/read 1000 different essays in one week for the College Board’s English IV AP test.

That’s it. I’m tagging Papa Poet, John Willome, and Gordon. I think most everyone else has been tagged.

Is the Harold Budd/Brian Eno collab any good? Also what are some other ambient jams you dig?

Now, Marcus. If you read the post, you’d know that it was NOT the 8 Random Facts meme, but one in which you’re supposed to answer the questions about reading and writing! Try again, please…

OOHH – you are in big trouble with spaghettipie – you didn’t read the directions – now what would you say if you were one of your students??????

Oh, God bless you… that many essays and you’re still with us?

chesnut, Budd/Eno is good. A little more melodic than other Budd. I also listen to Tim Story (great name), Jeff Pearce, and Richard Bone. My favorite Budd is definitely Avalon Sutra.

spaghettipie, hmmm. I’m confused. Can you give me a link?

Susan, I always told me students forget about the directions. Just write something that will make me stand up and say, “YES!” (Though as for that, the AP questions really do need to be answered, at least in a round about fashion.)

L.L., it was a really bizarre experience. But I made it. If I were still teaching, I would do it every year. Sick. I know.

Kung Fu movies? Have you ever seen The Five Deadly Venoms? It’s an oldie, but a goodie.

I think you might like Eluvium. Pretty Eno-ish, very lush.

My favorite ambient track is Disc 1, Track 3 on Aphex Twin’s ‘Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2′. That thing could go on for days, I think I could live there.

Also I love love Kung Fu Hustle, the same guy did a movie called Shanghai Soccer I think? I want to see it.

You had the link correctly: http://spaghettipie.wordpress.com/2007/07/25/readin-and-writin/
Granted, there are not many instructions other than to just fill out the questionnaire. But I’m definitely curious to know your answers!

Craver, dude! You’re back. I missed you, man. Good to see your toilet is working again. I don’t know the movie you mentioned, but I’ll have to check it out.

Chesnut, thanks for the recommendation. I’ll have to get those CDs. I think the movie is Shaolin Soccer. I haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard it’s fun.

spaghettipie, wow. You pretty much spelled it out. I’m not sure how I made that mistake. I must have confused your tag with another one. I’ll get to this one. It’s much more interesting.
