This morning, I stayed home with Captain Pink Eye (my four year old) and found this odd little video through Mashable while Captain Pink Eye was playing with marbles. If you haven’t watched the video yet, you should. I’ll explain why it’s important in a minute.
Watch it and find out why it’s important at HighCallingBlogs.com.

Does your social media honk like an oboe?

by Marcus on March 9, 2009

Shane Hipps and Out of Ur made me upset last week. Sometimes I blog when I’m angry, but I don’t recommend it. So I left a comment and tried to forget about it.
But I couldn’t.
Shane says, “…virtual community is like playing the guitar with one string. You can make music; [...]

Bad news for social media marketing?

by Marcus on February 19, 2009

Over at MediaPost today, this report caught my eye: Marketing Plans Take a Beating. One particular tidbit struck me as significant.
In July/August [2008], 53% of marketers thought their advertising budgets would be reduced in the next six months, when in fact, 71% experienced a budget decrease.
Ouch. What does this mean for social media I wonder?
On [...]

Carrying the Message… | Concept 53

by Marcus on December 12, 2008

High Calling Blogger, Rick of Concept 53 posted a really interesting narrative explain what it looks like for him to join the community and begin interacting with folks.

Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Blog Network?

by Marcus on August 7, 2008

Chris Cree just posted one of the most thought-provoking posts about blog networks that I’ve read in a long time. In addition to providing some pretty incredible links, he asks some pertinent questions for the people participating in HighCallingBlogs.com. Chris says,

Meet Andre Yee the Wiki Moses

by Marcus on July 11, 2008

I met Andre Yee about two years ago when I was just getting into blogging. He still blogs over at Every Square Inch about “Conversations on the Glory of Christ in Business and Culture,” and he’s really good.
The Social Media Prophet
Andre was one of the first bloggers we hired to write for TheHighCalling.org. (You can [...]

Five Articles to Challenge the Way You Blog

by Marcus on February 18, 2008

Who cares what the bloggers say about blogging.
Who cares what Facebook users say about Facebook.
What does NYU say about social media trends? What does the New York Times say? What do investors say?
Sometimes we need to step outside our blog bubbles and take a hard look at the online world we’re living. Don’t be afraid [...]

A Wog By Any Other Name Would Smell as Sweet

by Marcus on December 14, 2007

My good friend, L.L., is coining a new term and using Blogger in an interesting way to build community for her upcoming book: Stone Crossings. I haven’t read the book yet (because it doesn’t come out until April 2008), but I’m excited about the premise.
L.L. first posted about her wog concept at Seedlings In Stone [...]
