Pirate Ship Tree House Is Finally Done

by Marcus on August 17, 2008

Well, you know. Done enough for the kids to play in at any rate. This seems like the sort of thing that could be tweaked and accessorized indefinitely. Here are some pics for fun.

In progress:

Final tree house with planking, jolly roger, and sail:

That looks so amazing! Ahhhh the voyages to be had in that vessel. :)

Thanks, Rich. I have to admit: Several times throughout the process, I thought, who am I kidding? This thing is for me.

Hey wait! I don’t see a single eyepatch!

Monica, yeah. We had the perfect tree, and the kids like pirates. So.

Paul, hopefully. And I love them too. There’s a tree house B&B outside of Austin:

Robert, we ran the kids out close to bed time for the “first day” pictures. But believe me, they have pirate costumes galore.

Pictures!! Awesome. (Um, Amy doesn’t mind that you called her a “lower deck”, does she? : )

Not really, L.L., I’ve been called worse. I just realized I look horribly old in this picture – it’s because I still have on my stage makeup from Willy Wonka – I had just returned from a matinee performance to find the treehouse complete.

Nice ship! I’m reminded of Randy Newman:
Sail away,Sail away
We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay

Amy, hi! I won’t ask you what you’ve been called that’s worse than “lower deck.” Or who did the calling. : )

And I’m glad you explained the Willy Wonka factor. I kept looking at the picture thinking, “That does NOT look like Amy!” I thought maybe something had gone wrong on this end, with my vision getting old. ; – )

Marcus, will you be my dad? I want a tree house like that, too! (Cue slight whining and stomping of feet.)

Oh, what I miss when I go on vacation! :) This is really cool. My kids would be so jealous.

I love it! We have two pirates of our own and their dad is helping them build a clubhouse. It’s such a great bonding experience! The pics are fun–thanks for sharing.
