My interview with Michael Card about freedom and slavery

by Marcus on October 5, 2009

At TheHighCalling.org, my interview with Michael Card just went live. It’s about his new book, A Better Freedom. It is a short, wonderful little book that thinks about slavery in the bible, in history, and in the world today.

At Laity Lodge last year, Michael and I talked about different kinds of slavery–from the worst kinds of slavery that are rampant in our world to the subtle kinds of slavery experienced by people who are dehumanized in the workplace. Click over to Laity Lodge to read the interview.  Also, I really encourage you to look this book over. It is fresh and simple and short, and it changed the way I read the New Testament. Seriously.

We didn’t release the interview until this month to coincide with his book’s release which just came out from our friends at IVP.

(While you’re following links, check out byfor.org where Michael has posted a song inspired by his book under the Sweet Sacrifice project.)

Huh. It's sitting on my counter. IVP sent me a publicity copy. Now you're telling me to read it. :)

It's really good. Seriously. And you know how I feel about nonfiction, so
it's saying a lot if I finished the book.

Used to love his music although it's been a while since I've listened. Looks like his book is pretty good too

I will have to get this book. Scot McKnight says it stands on its own, and is not just a book published because an artist wrote it. And I like Michael Card anyhow, his music.

It definitely stands on its own, Ted. It's very simple and very powerful. I
definitely recommend it.

Michael Card is a man of integrity and has kept the faith for so many years and I admire his song writing and gifts-I have only heard his music but not read his books so this is good to know-
