Mount Hermon Christian Writing Conference 2 - Who I Met

These are some of the folks I met on March 14, 2008, at the Mount Hermon Christian Writing Conference.

First, I left someone off yesterday, though technically I suppose I met him again today. That’s Bryan Davis, the self-described “dragon guy,” author of Dragons in Our Midst and other inspirational fantasy for pre-teens/teens/adults. That’s what his card says at any rate, and I’m sticking with that.

Here’s the FEATURED NEW CONTACT (whatever that means):

Phillip Long - Who asks, “Why would I claim to fly to a place in the sky when I die.” Dad, you’d like this guy. An airline pilot for Delta, former T38 pilot. Speaking with him felt like finding a brother on a closed trail. His book Spirit Is Deeper Than Flesh is available at Amazon and on his website through a super nifty browser tool. (If you buy the book, do so through his affiliate link so he can track his sales from social media.)

Here are some of the others who helped make the day great. I met many, many people, but these folks really struck me as authentic:

Bonnie Line - a professional tea instructor. How fun is that?

Robin Bryce - a writer interested in post-modernism who told me about Frank Ball and the North Texas Christian Writer’s Conference.

Rev. Jay George and his wife - (what a pig I am that I can’t remember her name, but she didn’t give me a card). Jay is going to be in the same mentoring track with me. Randy Ingermanson, online marketing guru, is our instructor. Fun fact, Jay and I went to the same high school at the same time. But, ahem, I graduated a few years before him.

Dena Dyer - the owner of the Rock Box in Fredericksburg, Texas. Right down the road from where I live.

Merrie Destefano - fellow scifi lover, who has a fantastic book project that Steve Laube is helping her with. And a member of HighCallingBlogs.com. Go Merrie!

Sue Brower - She’s just the fiction editor for Zondervan. No big deal.

Brandilyn Collins - One of Zondervan’s fiction/suspense writers.

And many, many others.
