It’s been a rough week, but I thought I’d catalogue some of the more interesting infobits around the web.
- Ted Olsen shared the OPML file of the blogs he reads daily. Thanks, Ted, I probably owe you a positive link for picking on you earlier in the week.
- Problogger’s latest poll reveals the age of the world’s hottest blog (his). 39% of Darren’s readers are between the ages of 21-30.
- David Nudo at PW shares 4 Ps every writer needs to remember: Platform, Publicity, Positioning, and Promotion. Then he adds to bonus Ps: Personality and Passion. Perfectly persuasive, PW! (groan…)
- Widgets, widgets, widgets. Matt Hulett shares some stats with Emarketer about widgets. 81,000,000 unique users in the US view widgets. That’s 40% of the internet users in the US. (Which implies as astonishing 202,500,000 uniques internet users in the US. According to the Popclock, we have 303,052,798 people in the US. So 27% of the entire country views widgets. These puppies are the future.
- Finally, Steve Gibson has a great post called “Market Your Book by Mail.” If you don’t yet know Steve, he’s president of Gibson Direct, a pioneer member of the High Calling Blog network, a real life direct marketing guru, and sometime mentor to me (he might not know that).
Also, GodBlogCon is coming up. I’ll be attending as tagalong to Mark D. Roberts. He’s my chum. It’s part of the larger convention BlogWorld, where people like Copyblogger, Brian Clark will pontificate on social media world domination. (Actually, Brian is going to talk about how to write well for the medium, but writing well is only a few steps away from world domination.)
