As long as it has taken us to get this blog network started, I could just as easily call this post “The Boy Who Cried Blog!” But you know, we wanted to get as many kinks worked out as possible.
Listen.
There is a time for everything under the sun. A time to blog, and a time to comment. A time to write code, and a time to write poetry. A time to build a network, and a time to launch a network.
This is a time to launch.
AND I NEED YOUR HELP.
Gordon Atkinson and I are very excited. Ramblin’ Dan has given us the nod. Christianity Today friends are watching. Even Mr. Butt has offered his blessing.
But I still need your blessing to make this work. Before I tell you about the three ways you can help, let me tell you about the philosophy of the network. We want people to understand the central message of gospel living.
It isn’t heaven, folks. Heaven is great, but God hasn’t saved me to live in a holding pattern before I die. No! here’s how Gordon, the Real Live Preacher, explained it:
You should live like Christ in the workplace. If you are a Christian, your faith should be more than words. Your faith ought to change the way you live and act in your professional life.

Nice new logo, eh? “Real Community. Shared Values.” That’s what I’m talking about. This ain’t no stinkin’ network. It’s real community.
You can help us do this in three ways.
*** IF YOU DO NOTHING ELSE, DO THIS.***
1) Recommend blogs we should feature in our various categories.
When you comment on this post, just leave their URL. We’ll go check them out and invite them to the community.
Folks, we have eleven categories to fill. That’s right. “This one goes to eleven”: Business, Clergy, Education, Government, Law, Military, Nonprofit, Parenting, Publishing & Writing, Science & Medicine, and Technology. Click on any of those links to see the philosophy of faith in the workplace as it applies to each specific context.
If you know any good bloggers in those professions, please put their URL address in the comment section.
***Here are two other things you can do.***
2) Post about the community.
Make a plea to your readers as well (after you take a look at the network, of course). Ask your audience for what blogs they’d recommend. Feel free to use any images from my blog to spice up your post.
We need Christians across eleven various professions who understand this message. We need teachers who teach to the glory of Christ. Grocers who sell lettuce to the glory of Christ. Military officers and noncommissioned officers who serve their country to the glory of Christ. Politicians who represent the people to the glory of Christ (in an election year, no less). Doctors and nurses who heal to the glory of Christ. Pastors who teach to the glory of Christ. Business leaders who run their organization to the glory of Christ.
My little blog audience is too specialized to find all of the voices we’re going to need if we want to share the full spectrum of God’s glory through our daily work. I need your help to find other voices.
I need you to post a plea to your readers to find good blogs for our community. If you do this, let me know in the comments, or link back to this post and I can follow the trackback.
3) Join the community!
If you already have a blog, it’s easy. Just let us know you are interested through our simple form.
If you’ve been thinking about starting a blog, now is the time to give it a try. The sign up is four easy steps. We’ll host you for free.
A few final thoughts
Like I said at the beginning, I thought about calling this “The Boy Who Called Blog!” because this network has taken so long. Thanks to some of you for hanging in there and supporting me even when the dream seemed to be a long way from the clunky actuality. We’ve been taking all of your advice very seriously, and we still have work to do. But the time has come to launch this thing full force.
We’re announcing the network to our email lists at TheHighCalling.org and FaithInTheWorkplace.com in just a few weeks, as soon as we have enough featured bloggers. Those lists reach a combined total of more than 25,000 people by the way. And we are going to ask them to come read, read, read.
Very soon, I’ll be adding a list of FAQ to the network based on the questions and comments I receive from this post.
Listen, I’m just one guy here. Gordon and Dan and I thought up this network one afternoon at Bennigan’s. But I think it can give voice and unity to a part of God’s Kingdom that many people never hear about.
Let me say it as boldly as I know how. Right now, this is my commission.
Will you help?

Here’s a question: can blogs be listed in more than one category? I’m a writer, but I’m also a stay-at-home mom. My blog bounces back and forth between the two professions. Most often it’s just about living the high calling in life regardless of which hat I wear that day.
Mark: I’m very excited about this! People need to be encouraged in the workplace. This seems a wonderful venue for doing exactly that. Thanks for all your work!
We’ll definitely be able to post blogs in multiple categories. Then when we post a link to a particular post, we’ll mention that your blog is in multiple categories.
I’m afraid I’m asking for retread info. What is the purpose of the community and what is expected from bloggers who join? My concern is, will I be able to adequately participate, given my current commitments.
Becky
Becky, that is a great question. You can engage in this community as much or as little as you want. I’m working on a FAQ page and a narrative analogy for the site this weekend and early next week.
Basically, the only commitment you make when joining the community is to think about it. We’ll come and comment on your blog. You come and comment on ours. It’s a bit like what you already do with CSFF, but extended out over time so that it is not so intense.
I think it would even make sense for the CSFF blog tour and HighCallingBlogs.com to work together.
Done.
CSFF … Christian Science Fiction … Family? Forum? Friends? Sorry. Just curious.
L.L., thanks for the post! You’re so sweet, and I know how much you dislike posting off topic stuff. BFF.
Tanya, Christian Science Fiction and Fantasy… blog tour. : ) You can read it here.
M - I’d love to join, but I don’t think any of my blogs fit any of those categories
I’ll keep a look out for ones that do fit, though. Perhaps you go the one I recently sent you on Law?
I am in the High Calling Blog community!
I am in. I need the code at some point to put the banner on my website.
