A Great Resource for Parents

good christian parenting bookIf you’re like me, you’re tired of being told to grow kids God’s way and dare to discipline. I mentioned Mary DeMuth’s book Authentic Parenting earlier this week in an review. And the ideas in her book have really stuck with me. You know how some books do that, right? I know not every reader here is a parent, but if you are, definitely consider purchasing that book. It’s got some great stuff in it. And it’s only $13.00. That’s a good deal for a new book.

… And if you do decide to purchase it, please do so by clicking through to Mary’s site (that way we can track the effectiveness of this little social media experiment).

Note: If this feels like a quick, hard sell, that’s because it is!  Part of this current little social media experiment is to see the effect of different kinds of posts. I’m predicting the quick, hard sell posts have higher click through rates. We’ll see. On the other hand, you may be interested in my review of the book.

Marcus

The best parenting book I know is “Shepherding Your Child’s Heart” by Ted Tripp. It addresses the heart rather than external behaviors - if you’re looking for parenting books, don’t leave this one out.

Thanks, ESI. It’s good to hear from you again! I’ll definitely look into Ted Tripp’s book.

Grant deadline 4:30 CST - please pray - much warfare and incredible “coincidental” distractions

Shepherding is a pretty good book, although I enjoyed Ginger Plowman’s book called Don’t Make Me Count to Three more because it’s a little more practical. I reviewed both books on my blog (links above).

Shepherding a Child’s heart is my #1 favorite.

About your hard sell, I woldn’t click unless I know why you liked it (a sentence or two).

If this is as good as “Shepherding”, I’m sure I will enjoy it and give away many copies.

Hope the performances continue to gather laughs!

I will look forward to seeing if I get a laugh from you on my most recent post!

That sounds good. sadly I’m pretty much done with parenting. My first is gone and I’m thinking of taking a pretty much hands-off approach to the next two.

Just kidding of course.

Your quick hard sell robs me of your nice, neat bullet-point summary. You know, the one that would let you do all the work and let me get the benefit?

Why don’t you work that into the experiment?

;-)

Eve, I posted a link to the review. That was just an oversight. Thanks for pointing it out.

Gordon, I gave a good bullet point summary in the review I posted earlier.

Matthew, thanks for dropping by! It’s always good to see fellow Church of Christ buddies.

Ack! I thought I’d commented here. I must’ve dreamt it. Sorry about that. Thanks so much for being a spectacular part of this tour, Marcus!
