CSFF - Take the Widget - Everybody’s Doing It

Ok, not really. And I don’t want folks to think this is some kind of weird self-promotion, branding thing. But really, if you are part of the Christian Science Fiction and Fantasy blog tour by all means grab the widget for your sidebar or for a permanent page on your blog.

A Widget for Writers

What is a widget, you ask? It is a little bit of code that can be shared between many users that changes based on the information it receives via an RSS feed.

How can you have fun with widgets?

Good Words for High Calling Bloggers

sidebar image50,000 words each week. That’s how much people are writing as participants of HighCallingBlogs.com. A new draft of a nonfiction book about faith and work–each week! How awesome is that?

Gordon and I are slowly getting a handle on the gargantuan task of managing the network of HighCallingBlogs.com.

A Wog By Any Other Name Would Smell as Sweet

wogs and rosesMy good friend, L.L., is coining a new term and using Blogger in an interesting way to build community for her upcoming book: Stone Crossings. I haven’t read the book yet (because it doesn’t come out until April 2008), but I’m excited about the premise.

L.L. first posted about her wog concept at Seedlings In Stone a few weeks ago.

Pretty quickly, several friends pointed out a problem with the word she coined.

Remember the Universe Is a Really Big Place - only then can your house be blessed

My friend, Liz, is thinking about the universe today. She’s like that. And her wonderful essay culminates (for me) with the recognition that everything is interconnected.

With every breath, I change the atmosphere.
With every step, I change the ground we share.

There’s another side to that kind of thinking. Sometimes I like to remember exactly how small I am.

Mark D. Roberts and I Will Be On Hugh Hewitt Today

First, Mark D. Roberts posted his notes from yesterday’s session on his site. The GodblogCon folks put Mark’s audio online as well. Here’s a full list of all audio files from GodblogCon, made available on the Scriptorium.)

Second, Hugh Hewitt invited us to be on his radio show this afternoon. (Mark has been on Hugh’s show several times, like yesterday, but this is a first for me!) We’re taping it at 1:30 PST, and it will go on the show later today. I think you’ll be able to stream it from his site this evening as well.

Are Blog Tours Helpful or Just “Hype”-ful?

conversational marketing looks like thisI’ve been emailing Austin Boyd back and forth a bit this week about his blog tour, trying to get his impression of its value. He gave me permission to post his comments here on my blog.

To set the context, Austin Boyd’s book The Return was featured on the Christian Science Fiction and Fantasy Blog Tour two months ago. (Go here to read my blog’s Page One review of the book from the tour.) Austin has a little bit of perspective on the event, and I asked him the hard question:

Now that the dust has settled on the CSFF blog tour, I’d be curious to hear how you felt about it.

What Have You Been Doing for Thirty Years?

10.20.30.jpgMary has already traced this meme to the fifth generation. Impressive! I’m a delayed first generation post. The rules are self-explanatory, but you can read the details at Mary’s original post.

Quick: What were you doing ten, twenty and thirty years ago?

Do you want to know my answers?

We’re Looking for a Few Good Blogs!

time to launch! As long as it has taken us to get this blog network started, I could just as easily call this post “The Boy Who Cried Blog!” But you know, we wanted to get as many kinks worked out as possible.

Listen.

There is a time for everything under the sun. A time to blog, and a time to comment. A time to write code, and a time to write poetry. A time to build a network, and a time to launch a network.

This is a time to launch.

AND I NEED YOUR HELP.
