Be the First to Preview an All New TheHighCalling.org

by Marcus on April 9, 2007

Hallelujah! The beta testing for our new and improved TheHighCalling.org starts in just a few days.

If you go to our site now, click on what the editors of TheHighCalling.org happily call “The Wok” in the upper right hand corner of the screen. (We just made our green wok orange because people said they couldn’t see it.)

The Old Site and “The Wok”

When you register with the site, you’ll receive an all access back stage pass to the new site in just a few days. I’m here now, and let me tell you, the appetizers alone are worth the ticket. (Especially since the ticket is free.)

In the meantime, here’s a screenshot. To really get the benefit of the new site, though, you’ll have to login.

And once the new site goes live, High Calling Blogs are just a few weeks away. They are the answer to a lot of the feedback we have received about the site’s old “personal journal” function. Stay tuned.

Congrats on the roll-out, Mark! I know you’ve been working hard on this. Can’t wait to see how it develops for ya!

Thanks for dropping by, Chris! I look forward to talking with you about all of this stuff a lot more in a few weeks.

Terrific! Must be nice to write for a site like that. ;)

Will my old link automatically reroute to this, or will I need to update it in my blog template?

This is exciting! I know you worked hard on this and it’s come together quite nicely.

L.L., you make me laugh.

The old links will all reroute to the new site when everything finishes moving over. Beta testing isn’t too long, so we’ll have the new site up and running in no time at all.

You know how excited I am to see the new HC go live! It already looks great from what I’ve peeked at so far. Keep working hard. The fruit is worth it!

On an unrelated note: I wanted to let you know that I’ve been inspired by your blog. You have a way of making me think and awaken the sleeping writer within me. I have chosen your blog for the Thinking Blog Award meme because I am grateful for the energy and time you put into your posts here!

If you’d ever like to participate:

1. Simply add the graphic to your blog and link it back to The Thinking Blog.
2. Write a post awarding 5 of your favorite blogs that make you think.
3. A link back to the person’s blog who awarded you would be appreciated =)

Julia, thanks! What an honor.

And thanks for the reminder to follow up on Jenn’s tag too. Now that I’m double tagged, I better do it.

Though, I admit I’m a little slow on these things–especially during a week like this one!

Slow and steady Mark, slow and steady!

Mark-totally off topic here: How do you take and post a screenshot? I’d like to use this technique to advertise my blog designs for sale.
Thanks,
Eve

Marcus, It’s been hard for us schedule wise lately. And my father finally went to be with the Lord. I did intend to give this a good look and was very interested. Maybe later I can get on board. Thanks.

Ted, we’re all praying for you at the Foundation. God bless you and your family.

Eve, good question about the screen shot. I can only speak for PCs. First, set up the screen shot you want. Then hit the “Print Screen” button. This saves a picture of your current screen view on the clipboard.

Then open an image program. If you have adobe, use that it. It’s pretty powerful. Otherwise, you can use Microsoft Paint. Once you open the program, click “paste” or use the key stroke “ctrl + V”.

Use the image program to crop the screen appropriately.

When you are done, be sure to save the image as a JPG. Those images work best on the web because they have both good resolution and good compression.

I love geek speak.

Mark,
My problem is that my Windows 98 (gotta love that system) has somehow lost the paint program-deleated.

I think I found a way to do it through Snap Preview (called snap shots now). I’ll keep you posted-thanks (I love geek speak too!)
